Here's a list of celebrities who died a sudden and tragic death which led to conspiracy theories around their mysterious demise.

1. Shikha Joshi

Shikha Joshi, who was last seen in the movie 'BA Pass' committed suicide by slitting her throat open at her MHADA flat in Versova, Mumbai. It is speculated that the actress took the extreme step due to frustration of not getting acting roles in Bollywood.

2. Divya Bharti

The gorgeous actress who was one of the best stars of the 90s died a tragic death. Bharti fell from the fifth floor of her apartment. Police investigated the case but came to a conclusion that it was a suicide. However, there were speculations that her husband Sajid Nadiadwala was the cause of her death.

3. Manmohan Desai

The director who was responsible for classics like Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, and Dharam Veer, was found dead after jumping off from his balcony. His acquaintances say that he was depressed due to his unsuccessful career, while others say that he was fed up of his back pain and therefore ended his life.

4. Jiah Khan

The 25-year-old actress, who made her debut with RGV’s ‘Nishabdh’, was found hanging from her ceiling at her Juhu apartment on June 3, 2013. Her mother Rabia Khan alleged that it was not a suicide, and that it was murder. She blamed actor Aditya Pancholi’s son, Sooraj Pancholi, who was Jiah’s boyfriend, for her death. She also produced pages from Jiah’s diary where the actor had written about her unhappy relationship.

5. Guru Dutt

The director, actor and producer, who gave us classics like Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, and Chaudhvin Ka Chand was found dead due to an alcohol and sleeping pill overdose. Dutt was a victim of depression.

6. Silk Smitha

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, popularly known as Silk Smitha was the sex siren of the South industry. The actress died in 1996 by committing suicide. It is said that her alcoholism, failed romances and dwindling finances made her take her own life. Her story was also made into a film. Vidya Balan portrayed Silk Smitha in the blockbuster ‘The Dirty Picture’.

7. Kunal Singh

The cute actor from ‘Dil Hi Dil Mein’ was found hanging from the ceiling of his house. However, the actor’s father claimed that it was not a suicide and that his son was murdered.

8. Parveen Babi

Parveen Babi was the first Indian actress to grace the Time Magazine cover. The actress was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and was found dead in her Mumbai flat. Postmortem, the doctors speculated that she starved herself to death.

9. Viveka Babajee

One of India’s top models died a tragic death, when she hung herself from the ceiling fan in her flat. She had left a diary which eerily said ‘I kill’. It is suspected that a spat with her boyfriend pushed her to the edge.

10. Nafeesa Joseph

MTV’s beloved VJ ended her life due to love gone awry. Her marriage was called off because she learnt that her boyfriend Gautam Khanduja was already married and had lied to her about his divorce.

11. Kuljeet Randhawa

Model-turned-actress Kuljeet Randhawa was popular for her Sony serial C.A.T.S. The actress was found dead at her apartment in Juhu with a suicide note which stated that she was ending her life as she was failing to cope with the complexities of life.

‘ABCD 2’ is definitely bigger, but is it better than its prequel?
Maybe not.
Yes, it is a dance film but unlike in a dance reality show or a dance DVD, in a film we need the semblance of a plot. We cannot move from one of piece of choreography to the other with an incongruous narrative. Except the dance sequences, every other element in this film seems like an afterthought.
‘ABCD’ might have been made on a tighter budget and with nondescript actors but there was a clear plot trajectory holding the motley group together. ‘ABCD 2’ has roped in two bankable stars – Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor but it just fails to capitalize on their USP.
The run-time of the film may not give us enough opportunity to finish counting the cuts on Varun’s well-sculpted abs but with the exception of that, there’s nothing about his presence that adds to the film. Any one of the young choreographers could have essayed Varun’s part and it wouldn’t have made an iota of difference. Why didn’t we make better use of his impeccable comic timing?
Shraddha again is completely superfluous to the story. We obviously have the lead stars to bolster the narrative with some Bollywood-style romance but again, the love angle kicks in too late. There’s just no zing to this love story – they predictably fall in love – no muss, no fuss.
Lauren Gottlieb is the only member of the cast who seemed like she had a blast of a time pelvic-thrusting and hip-hopping to her heart’s content. And Prabhudheva too is a pleasure to watch - with his accented Hindi, smattering of Tamil dialogues and his groovy moves. But why saddle his part with an emotional crutch?
Between judging dance reality shows and directing a film on a subject close to his heart, our director Remo D’Souza seems to have completely lost his way. There are too many ideas that are just not executed right. It doesn’t help that he is completely let down by the music department, except the final number, none of the songs from the film stay with you.
The reason I like a film like ‘Happy New Year’ by Farah Khan, who is also essentially a choreographer is because she manages to entertain you. We might only be interested in the dances but in the interim you are entertained by over-the-top, absurd, inane humour and melodrama. And even though you are well aware of the irrationality of her plot, you just play along with her for the duration of the film.
Remo provides no such reprieve. And it doesn’t help that this underdog team’s international dance competition aspirations are very similar to those of Indiawaale’s (from ‘Happy New Year). This feels like a very meek attempt at replicating the same success.

I understand hip-hop might be slightly more technical then just flowing with Bollywood dance but that’s just technicality. If a film isn’t capable of engaging you then what’s the point?

Watch it if dance is the only thing that makes you move.
